Creating the Right Environment for Your Rabbit.

Rabbits are active pets and will need plenty of room to hop around. That’s why care is extremely important. It’s vital that they are allowed to run around during the day so they need a big enough rabbit hutch and a rabbit run would also be a great idea. The hutch also needs to be secure and, in a place, where its dry and draught free. The whole rabbit hutch should be cleaned out regularly to keep your rabbit happy and healthy.

Tips for your rabbits’ hutch

Rabbits are active and need to be able to hop and run around as well as standing upright so they can stretch their legs out fully. Provide a secure rabbit hutch that is big enough for the number of rabbits you have too.

Provide a living area with a secure shelter where they can rest and feel safe when they are sleeping and are protected from any harsh weather conditions. Rabbits are a prey species, so they need to be hidden in a secure place.

Provide enough bedding to keep the rabbits warm the bedding should also be edible such as straw and hay. This bedding will need to be changed weekly.

If you have a house rabbit

Rabbits can live happily indoors, and they must be provided with sheltered accommodation such as a cage or even just a bed where they feel safe to sleep and be confined too when unsupervised. You will also have to make sure that they have a place where they can use as a toilet, there are litter trays that can be used. If you do have a house rabbit you will need to make sure that the area is safe for them, make sure that no electrical cables are left out so the rabbit can nor on them. Make sure that the rabbit’s hutch or cage is not anywhere near any radiators.

Food and water

If your using a water bowl as some rabbits do prefer a bowl compared to a bottle you can place it anywhere it won’t get knocked over and leave the bedding damp. However, if you are using a bottle make sure it is securely tightened on to the hutch as sometimes, they can fall on the floor.

Toys

Your rabbit is obviously going to get bored if they don’t have any toys, instead of scattering toys all over the hutch keep a few in the house so you can change them from time to time and this will keep your rabbit entertained. If you are keeping the rabbit inside the house, then to prevent having toys scattered around all the time keep them in a box until he or she wants to play with them.
